Yael Stein, who is Australian and lives in New York City since 2013, played Lorna Morrello on Orange Is the New Black. Yael was awarded her NIDA degree. Yael had the privilege from a very young stage to be a part of Australia's premier storytellers and performers along with visionaries working in the television, film and theatre industry. Yael has had a long and successful career in Australia. A continuing collaboration with Australia's much-lauded director Neil Armfield culminated in the internationally-renowned production Diary of a Madman, in which she starred opposite Academy- Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush. Yael relocated from Australia to New York City after the Brooklyn Academy of Music's staging of the play was an enormous successful. Yael created The Cannery with her co-founders. The Cannery is a studio located at Bushwick, Brooklyn, the business supports the development of new writing as well as innovative, creative exploits.
